Green products
Most of us know that:
- we get short of materials and natural resources;
- we produce to much emissions;
- we use to much energy and
- we expect much from new energy technologies.
But in the meantime we seem short of ideas how to proceed with this know-how and how to continu designing products, houses, streets and cities.
Instead of adding more heavy and more complex materials (resulting in more weight, more transport, more emissions etc, plus the diminishing returns) to reduce energy consumption, or generating our own energy to reduce the energy bills (which comes with a too long return on investments), we better start adding intelligence: matching energy supply with the energy needs and where the energy is needed.
Smart products, smart houses, smart streets, smart neighbourhoods and smart cities: why wait for the authorities to bring us the benefits of intelligence, while we can do it ourselves? It time for an open source society!
